Já é conhecida a lista completa dos nomeados da 77 edição anual dos Globos de Ouro (Golden Globe Awards). A cerimónia terá lugar no Beverly Hilton Hotel, EUA, a 5 de janeiro de 2020, e terá como anfitrião Ricky Gervais.
A atriz, cantora e compositora Cynthia Chinasaokwu O. Erivo, britânica de origem nigeriana, foi uma das mais recentes nomeadas ao Golden Globe Awards, ao lado de Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johansson, Renée Zellwegger e Saoirse Ronan, pelo seu papel em Harriet como “Melhor Atriz (Drama)”.
Harriet é um filme biográfico que fala sobre a história de Harriet Tubman, ativista política que, durante a Guerra Civil americana, ajudou centenas de escravos a fugirem do sul dos Estados Unidos, após ela mesma ter fugido e conseguido escapar da escravidão, em 1849. E as suas ações contribuíram para que existisse uma mudança e direção da história dos escravos nos Estados Unidos.
Harriet tem sido um sucesso de bilheteria, mas o facto de o personagem principal ser protagonizado por uma afro-britânica e não um afro-americano gerou criticas, desde o seu lançamento a 1 de novembro, nos Estados Unidos (ainda não tem data de estreia em Portugal). A escritora e diretora do filme, Kasi Lemmons, abordou este tema em entrevista ao The Hollywood Reporter.
“Eu senti que estávamos a contar e a contribuir para a cultura com a história de Harriet Tubman lindamente. Quanto a Cynthia, estava preparada de todas as maneiras possíveis, para desempenhar esse papel. Estava preparada fisicamente, emocionamente e espiritualmente para interpretar Harriet Tubman. E ela foi maravilhosa”, disse Kasi.
