O que aconteceu ontem na 58.º edição dos Grammy Awards já era previsto: Kendrick Lamar roubou a cena. Nomeado em 11 categorias, o rapper de Compton conseguiu arrecadar cinco estatuetas, tendo ganho Canção Rap, Performance Rap, Colaboração Rap, Vídeo Musical e Álbum Rap.
Nada que as críticas quase unânimes das principais publicações internacionais não tivessem previsto acontecer e confirmaram que To Pimp A Butterly é um dos melhores álbuns da história recente do hip hop.
E como LL Cool J já tinha dado entender, a actuação de Lamar durante a cerimónia foi sublime, com a interpretação de duas canções (“The blacker the Berry” e “Alright”), assumindo-se como voz da consciência afro-americana, por entre hip-hop, jazz e poesia, adoptando o cunho politizado do último álbum, surgindo acorrentado no palco que reproduzia uma prisão, numa encenação visual que terminou com o mapa de África e a palavra Compton, o bairro de onde ele é originário.
